The Best Part of Installing Visual Studio 2008

The best part of installing Visual Studio 2008 ...

... is that I don't have to follow up with a four hour install of SP1 for Visual Studio 2005!

Yeah, if the everloving download would actually finish successfully, I would tell you all about how great my install experience has been.

Easy install and Microsoft in the same thought? What is the world coming to?

I had an interesting thing happen installing the 3.5 Framework yesterday.

The list of recommended applications to close to complete installation, included the 3.5 Framework installer. I clicked ignore and everything seems gravy. But that was a first.

But you do have to put up with the 1 hour install of the TFS client. Fortunately, yesterday was a day of meetings, but still, why? It took longer than the VS2008 install.

My boss seriously learnt RoR in the time it took to install VS.NET 2008...I swear after the 4 hours it took (uninstalling the beta, struggled with getting past installing the framework (had to install it separatly to finally get it working)) he had his first RoR application up and running...
