Developer Toolbar For IE

The beta version of the IE Developer Toolbar is now available. The toolbar allows you to inspect the DOM, view class names and IDs, clear the browser cache, validate the markup, and more.

Other than a minor annoyance (the installation required a reboot), the toolbar looks great and works well. If you’ve ever used FireFox’s web developer extension you’ll know just how invaluable this tool can be.

The IEDevToolbar.dll the setup package deploys doesn’t appear to use managed code, though. Bummer.

I've been camping to see if anyone, besides MS folks, says the toolbar is stable enough not to require reformatting your disk. Thanks for heads up. The tipping point for the toolbar has arrived. :)

Yes, it is a bummer that the IEDevToolbar is not a managed application... I tried to open the assemby with a reflector to inspect it and I received and message stating that the CLI header was missing.

I already have a wish list

1. I would like to be able to cut-n-paste the current tag path out of the IEDevtoolbar. I couldn't find a way to do this.

2. I really would like to the click on the live page in the browser and have the toolbar jump to the relative section in the toolbar.

Does anyone know who at MS is reposnbile for the toolbar. I'd be interested in getting more feedback to the group.
